Since we were formed in September 2004 we have been working hard to
bring much needed improvements to Springburn Park.
We are currently working on several projects with Land Services,
Countryside Rangers and the Community Planning Partnership.
If like us you are committed to improving Springburn Park we would
like you to join our Management Committee. Your input can be as little as
two hours per month.
Our Management Committee meet on the first Monday of every month at
7pm. Our meetings last no more than two hours.
Currently we have over 200 members, which includes over 60 Junior
members. This indicates to us that local people are really interested in
seeing Springburn Park improved.
Hopefully regular visitors to the park will have already noticed a few
improvements. Land Services who manage the day to day running of the park
are very keen to work with us to see your aspirations met.
Many of the items you asked for in the last two FoSP Park Users
Surveys have been done or are currently being worked on. Local
schoolchildren have recently become more involved with park improvements and
helped to plant 30 Birch trees alongside one of the parks pathways, the
pathway has been renamed Birch Avenue.
We also work closely with the Police and the new Antisocial Behaviour
Taskforce currently operating in the general Springburn area. This has seen
a major reduction in
criminal activities taking place in the park at night.
We need your help too, if you see anyone vandalising the park you
should call the police or Crimestoppers (anonymously if you like) on 0800 555 111.
